The days events kicked off with a breakfast where Executive Mayor, Clr Duma Nkosi addressed sponsors, and thanked role models such as Lucas Radebe and Pollen Ndlanya for their willingness to reach out to the youth and future soccer legends of South Africa. All guests were then bused off to a Tembisa stadium. The buses stopped off at various playing fields in Tembisa where sponsors distributed soccer balls.

The objective of this annual event, which has become a much anticipated affair, is to encourage the development of sport in previously disadvantaged areas. Sporting activities are encouraged in such areas as it provides positive stimulation and assists in keeping the youth occupied and away from situations of temptation or negative peer pressure. The sponsors of the event joined forces in hope that the contribution they made steers the youth away from environments which could lead to substance abuse and crime. This initiative creates awareness of the coming events of the 2010 Soccer World Cup and the excitement and opportunity it brings along with it.
